The Carpenter Cabins are located in the Tuskeegee Valley near Lake Fontana, Fontana Resort, and US 129.

The Tuskeegee Valley is located in the Smoky Mountains of Western North Carolina near Robbinsville in Graham County.

The area derives its name from the Tuskeegee Tribe of indians who settled there, and who were later assimalated by the Cherokee. The Cherokees lived peacefully here until their forceful removal by the U.S. Government to Oklahoma on the "Trail of Tears". The decendants of those that escaped the removal still live in these mountains today. - Compiled from The Indian Tribes of North America by John R. Swanton

In the early 1800's this area was settled by sturdy Scotch-Irish and German settlers who traveled from Tennesee, Kentucky and Georgia. They claimed these rugged mountains as thier home through hard work and ingenuity, and have proudly passed along this beautiful land for us to enjoy today.
